Ever wondered where your hotel furniture goes after we pick it up? Here's a behind-the-scenes look at our sorting, matching, and delivery process.
When we pick up furniture from a hotel, the journey is just beginning. Here's what happens next.
Step 1: Inspection & Sorting
Every piece is carefully inspected for quality and condition. Items are categorized into three streams:
- Direct reuse — Furniture in excellent condition goes straight to our matching platform
- Upcycling — Items that need minor repairs or refreshing go to our upcycling partners
- Recycling — Materials from items beyond repair are separated and sent to specialized recyclers
Step 2: Matching
Our platform matches available furniture with organizations that need it. We consider factors like:
- Type and quantity of furniture needed
- Location and delivery logistics
- Budget and timeline requirements
- Specific quality preferences
Step 3: Delivery
Once a match is made, we coordinate delivery to the new owner. Our logistics team handles everything from loading to unloading, ensuring furniture arrives in perfect condition.
The Numbers
On average, 85% of furniture we pick up finds a new home through direct reuse. Another 10% gets upcycled, and the remaining 5% is responsibly recycled. That means less than 1% ever reaches a landfill.
